Meet Lisa

Registered Nutritional Therapist & Integrative Health Coach

DipNT CNM, NNA, GNC, UKIHCA

Hi, I'm Lisa!

I became a nutritional therapist due to my own health journey and not being able to get answers from my doctor as to why I was experiencing the symptoms I had...

My own health issues started around 20 years ago with many unexplained symptoms; swelling of my ankles, feeling utterly exhausted, daily headaches requiring paracetamol.  My doctor put it down to working full time, being stressed and having 2 young children to care for.... his answer was to give up work - who can really do that? But I felt it was so much more than this...

I began experiencing gut issues; bloating, constipation, sudden diarrhoea, pain with eating some foods.  Back to the doctor, but after more tests my GP maintained everything was ok and diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) - a collection of symptoms that GP's can't explain!  I was very frustrated, and felt my GP wasn't appreciating how unwell I was really feeling.

Nutritional therapy is the art of understanding how to nourish our bodies with food.  By integrating Health Coaching into consultations, we explore together what might be keeping you stuck from making these changes, reduce limiting beliefs you may have and finding a way that works for you to implement healthier food choices.

Fast forward a number of years and with my health progressively deteriorating I took a private food intolerance test.  My list of 'RED' intolerance foods and drinks numbered 19!!!!  Everything I was currently having was keeping me sick - eeekkkkk!

Overnight I cut out ALL of these foods and drinks and within 3 days I began feeling like a different person, my symptoms were disappearing fast... HOWEVER my diet was severely limited, eating out was impossible and I just couldn't seem to grow my nails, so sadly I realised this wasn't the full answer.

I started to do my own research on how food affects the body and mind, how some help the body to heal, and others promote inflammation, and how poorly nutrients are absorbed can keep you feeling sick or unwell.  I was totally fascinated with the power of food, which lead me to the College of Naturopathic Medicine where I studied for 3 years to retrain as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist.  What I learned shocked me - why had nobody told me this before and why don't doctors know this information??

Applying my new knowledge, I have been able to dramatically reduce all of my health concerns, including new perimenopausal symptoms (I'm 51 so it comes with the territory unfortunately), without the use of a paracetamol, ibuprofen or HRT!  I want to share my skills to educate and empower people so that they too can improve their health and avoid the un-necessary suffering, and make lasting transformational changes.
